Viticultural practices included vertical shoot positioning, shoot thinning, cluster thinning, hand-leaf removal and hand-harvest. Tawse Winery has been sourcing fruit from the sustainably-farmed Laundry vineyard since 2001. Home to some of the oldest Cabernet Franc vines in Niagara, 60% of which are 20+ years old, this vineyard benefits from the tempering effect of Lake Ontario and produces aromatic and complex wines.
The 2013 will not disappoint with aromas of dried herbs, candied blueberry and blackberry and notes of cigar box.
On the palate there are hints of oak spice and blueberry finished by smooth and approachable tannins approachable tannins with hints of oak spice and blueberry.
Cabernet Franc has terrific food pairing potential because of its spicy character and lively acidity. The Laundry Cabernet Franc would be a great companion to richer, fattier fare such as Korean spare ribs, beef stew or a decadent duck confit poutine.
